Getting Covered

Individuals

Are you covered?

When you and your family are covered by health insurance, you have a better chance of receiving quality care. And you’re protected from the cost of unexpected illnesses and accidents (without insurance, a 5-day stay in the hospital could cost as much as $27,000).

The Hawaiʻi Health Connector is here to help you choose the health insurance program that matches both your financial and your health needs.

Our goal is to make health insurance easier to buy and easier to understand, so that every individual, every family and every small business in Hawaiʻi can enjoy the benefits of medical care. After all, the healthier we are, the more our community prospers.

Under the Affordable Care Act, beginning in 2014, many individuals and families will be eligible to receive subsidized coverage in the marketplace if they are not eligible for Medicare, Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program and are not offered affordable coverage through their employer.

The next open enrollment period for 2015 begins this fall.
